What exactly is a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant, or VA, is a new industry that caters to online tasks that need to be completed by small businesses or entrepreneurs. A VA is a specialized freelancer who works remotely helping businesses with administrative, technical and creative tasks.

Why should I hire a Virtual Assistant instead of an employee?

The beauty of a VA is that you only need to pay for one when you need one, not when you don’t. I’m guessing you’re a small business or solopreneur and don’t always have extra work each month to merit hiring an employee, even if it’s only part-time? With an employee comes extra fees such as paying for their training, taxes, vacation pay, maternity leave, etc. Whereas with a VA, you only need to pay one monthly invoice for when you need an extra hand.

How do you charge for your services?

My packages start at 20 hours of work per month with my base rate being $35 CAD per hour. The more hours you purchase, the cheaper the package. However, if that doesn’t suit your needs, I am more than happy to work with you to come up with a plan that works for both of us. We can also further discuss retainer packages, which comes with an additional discount if you are interested in working together on a regular basis.

What is a retainer package?

A retainer package is a contract for a certain amount of work for a time period of 3, 6 or 12 months. However, I prefer to go this route after working together for some time to ensure that we both understand one anothers needs.

What are your business hours?

One of the main reasons I decided to delve in the world of VA, is so that I can set my own hours. Therefore, I do not subscribe to the standard 9-5 workday. With that being said, if a project needs to be completed in a strict time frame, I am happy to work evenings and weekends until the job is complete!  I completely understand that vital projects come up last minute, I’m more than happy to prioritize those tasks as they arise. However, depending on the magnitude of the project and how quickly it needs to be completed, an additional fee may accrue.
